What we do
Funding vital research
The Brain Research Trust (BRT) is one of the UK’s leading charities in the field of neurological research.
We were established in 1971 to promote and support research into the causes, treatment, prevention and cure of neurological diseases.
We do this by funding basic and clinical research at University College London’s world-renowned Institute of Neurology (IoN). Since the BRT was founded, we have given over £30 million to the IoN to help finance their research programmes and PhD studentships.
From the more than 250 identifiable neurological conditions, the BRT's support helps further research into Alzheimer's disease, brain tumours, multiple sclerosis, stroke, Parkinson's disease, epilepsy, motor neurone disease, migraine, brain trauma and spinal cord regeneration. See our research section for further information.
As we do not receive any government funding, we rely on the generosity of our donors who enable us this life-saving research to continue, to whom we are most grateful.
