Would you like to be a tissue donor to help research into neurological diseases? NeuroResource is a tissue bank based in the Institute of Neurology, University College London, which provides central nervous system (brain and spinal cord) tissue for vital clinical and scientific research on the cause and treatment of neurological disorders. The tissue bank accepts donations of tissue from patients who have a neurological disease such as multiple sclerosis, motor neurone disease, stroke, brain tumours, migraine or chronic pain. Because donations are accepted from a number of neurological disorders we are able to help many researchers. Donations from people without a neurological disorder are also essential as research on both normal and neurological disease tissue is necessary to gain new insights on disease processes and also for furthering understanding of the healthy nervous system. We understand that this is a delicate subject, but human tissue is an irreplaceable resource for research into disease processes. We are very conscious of the ethical aspects of tissue banking and informed consent for tissue donation is always obtained. If you would like information on tissue bank registration to be posted to you, please contact Dr. J. Newcombe at NeuroResource, Institute of Neurology, 1 Wakefield Street, London WC1N 1PJ. To register with NeuroResource, send the completed forms for donor registration to the tissue bank and a credit card size donor card with contact details will be sent to you. You can telephone the tissue bank during office hours on 020 7278 1338, or at other times NeuroResource can be contacted through the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery switchboard, 020 7837 3611. |
