The importance of research

Donations to Brain Research Trust go towards life-saving research. Although support and care is of great importance to people and families coping with neurological conditions, we believe that research is more essential to fight brain disease in the long-term.

Research will help to identify the causes, treatments and potential cures for these terrible and often fatal diseases. It may prevent people from developing these conditions in future or cure people of them.

There are currently approximately 12 million people in the UK living with a neurological condition that has a significant impact on their lives*. As the UK population continues to age, the number of people developing devastating diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s will also grow. It is therefore vital that we keep funding research into the brain to curb the occurrence of neurological disease in future and to give hope to those affected by it now.
