Research strategy

Brain Research Trust funds world-class research into the prevention and treatment of neurological diseases and conditions. In the past 30 years the charity has supported a wide variety of different research areas. Brain Research Trust focuses on the following seven neurological themes:

  • Alzheimer’s Disease and other Dementias
  • Brain Tumours
  • Epilepsy
  • Multiple Sclerosis and other immune-mediated conditions
  • Movement disorders including Parkinson’s Disease
  • Neuro-muscular disorders
  • Stroke and other forms of brain damage

Brain Research Trust funds a range of projects including:

  • PhD Studentships
  • Project grants
  • Equipment grants
  • Programme grants
  • Clinical fellowships

In order to ensure that the funded research is of the highest quality and represents a strategic fit with the aims of the charity, Brain Research Trust has established an extensive process of project assessment by its Scientific Advisory Panel and independent peer review.
