Corporate raffle brings in hundreds for brain research

In December 2008, ICON, a clinical research organisation based in Southampton, held their annual Winter Event. After searching through hundreds of different charities, the Facilities and Administration team finally chose The Brain Research Trust to receive the proceeds of their raffle.

One of the reasons the BRT was chosen was because they thought that almost everyone knows someone who has been affected by one of these illnesses at some time in their life.

The raffle held on 9th January at the Rosebowl raised a very impressive £855.00 for our neurological research. A great big thank you to all those ICON staffers who contributed and the local companies which gave such brilliant prizes.

Later in the year, Claire and Nicola, the ICON staffers who had originally organised the Winter Event, travelled to London to meet some of the Institute researchers. Jenny and Yasmin showed them round the Institute and they were introduced to Dr Patrick Lewis who received the giant cheque, and Dr Tom Foltynie.
